Qatar Charity Inaugurates Integrated Service Complex in Ghana to Support Rural Development

DOHA, QATAR — As part of its ongoing mission to drive sustainable development across West Africa, Qatar Charity has officially inaugurated a comprehensive service complex in the North Tongu District of eastern Ghana. Supported by the generous contributions of donors within the State of Qatar, the new facility is set to provide vital educational and social services to more than 2,000 residents in the region.

The multi-functional complex, located within the Afemi Batur Technical Secondary School, was unveiled during an official ceremony attended by His Excellency Samuel Okudzeto Ablakwa, the Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Ghana, and His Excellency Khalid bin Jabr Al Musallam, the Ambassador of the State of Qatar to Ghana.

Transforming Education and Infrastructure

The project is designed to be a self-sustaining community hub, addressing several critical needs simultaneously. At its core is a modern school featuring classrooms with a 250-student capacity, complemented by administrative offices and high-standard supporting facilities.

To ensure the long-term success of the school, the complex includes:

  • Teacher Housing: Eight dedicated housing units to attract and retain quality educators in the rural district.
  • Clean Water Access: An automated borehole and sanitation system providing safe drinking water to the school and surrounding community.
  • Spiritual Hub: A newly constructed mosque to serve the local congregation.

He noted that the organization’s interventions throughout 2025 and 2026 have become a model for translating international solidarity into tangible results in the sectors of health, water, and education.

Engineer Hassan Ouda, Director of Qatar Charity’s offices in Ghana and Cote d’Ivoire, reaffirmed the organization’s focus on underserved rural communities. He emphasized that education remains the primary driver of development and that Qatar Charity is committed to building the infrastructure necessary to ensure students can learn in safe, dignified, and well-equipped environments.

This latest project reflects Qatar’s broader commitment to the “Global South,” utilizing humanitarian aid not just for immediate relief, but as a tool for long-term social stability and local economic empowerment.
