Our Story

Alzeenah began with a simple frustration.

In 2026, I moved to Qatar with my family. Like hundreds of thousands of expats before me, I arrived with excitement, questions, and an overwhelming amount of conflicting information. Where should we live? How do we get our driving licenses? Which schools are actually good? Where can we find authentic groceries? What’s there to do on weekends?

I spent weeks digging through outdated forum posts from 2015, generic travel blogs that had never been to Qatar, and government websites that technically answered questions but didn’t really help. What I needed was a trusted friend who’d been here for years.

Someone who knew which counter to go to at the traffic department, which neighborhoods feel like home, and where to find the best shawarma at 2 AM.

That friend didn’t exist online. So I decided to become that friend.

Alzeenah started as a personal documentation project notes to help friends who were moving to Qatar after me. But as I shared these guides, something unexpected happened. Hundreds, then thousands of people found them helpful. They weren’t looking for surface-level travel content or corporate PR. They wanted real, tested, honest information from someone who actually lives here.

That’s what Alzeenah is: insider knowledge, written by people who live in Qatar, for people who live in Qatar (or want to).

What “Alzeenah” Means

الزينة (Alzeenah) is an Arabic word meaning decoration, adornment, or beauty. But it’s deeper than aesthetics. It’s about taking something ordinary and making it extraordinary. It’s the care you put into arranging your home, the intention behind choosing where to eat, the thoughtfulness of planning a perfect weekend.

We believe life in Qatar should be lived beautifully not just survived, but genuinely enjoyed. This isn’t content written by freelancers in Manila who’ve never set foot in Qatar. Every guide is written by people who actually live in Doha, use these services, visit these restaurants, and navigate these systems. When we say “arrive at 6:30 AM to avoid the queue,” it’s because we stood in that queue.

Qatar changes fast like laws update, restaurants close, new neighborhoods open. We don’t publish and forget. Our articles are living documents, reviewed quarterly and updated when things change. You’ll always see the last update date at the top.
